Ashwem Beach in Goa

Ashwem Beach in Goa

Ashwem beach is a popular beach located in the south direction of Arambol beach and is also a quiet and isolated spot. In this beach, you can view an immense stretch of sand till you reach a place where there are a good number of huts and beach shacks in the middle of the beach. You can find plenty of good restaurants in this area that provide scrumptious seafood.

This beach in Goa has its very own tranquil charm and it is also appealing, since it is very peaceful, clean and quiet. The waters here are very safe to swim and actually, the shoreline is long and filled with palms and beautiful powdery silver sands, rarely dusted golden. This calm atmosphere is only occasionally interrupted by headland, estuaries or inlets, sometimes. The Ashwem beach has both serene and secluded areas as well as more lively and broad spots existing for the enjoyment of all, as none of them are private.

Highlights of the Beach

Ashwem Beach in Goa

You will love the calm, relaxing and beautiful ambience of the Ashwem beach and get the best and amazing sunset views here. The beach is very suitable for couples as well as families looking out for a soothing and relaxing time. It is also a great spot to hang out with friends due to the fewer crowds and u will feel free to roam around the beach.

You can visit this beach during any season and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the excellent eat-out spots, yoga activities or just lie around and rest in the lounge. This beach stands apart from the busy crowd and is one of the clean, nice and quiet beaches in Goa.

You can prefer to lie in the warm sun the whole day using either any of the available Brollies or taking shade under the Bamboo trees. Though the basic facilities are less in this beach, there are great massage facilities in Amore centre. It is fascinating to walk along the beach during low tide and enjoy the pretty scenery.

As a delight for children, there are many Ice cream sellers on their bicycles selling ice creams, and so this beach is a favourite among children. When compared to the other tourist spots in Goa where we cannot see many kids, Ashwem beach has more number of children in it. This is especially because the tide and river appear to form a low pond which is perfect for toddlers or small children to splash around.

This beach is awesome and brilliant as many other Goa beaches. If you plan to visit Goa, you must go to the Ashwem beach to enjoy its white beach sand, rocks and privacy. The specialties of this beach are the extensive beachfront, the fine sand and the water which is not very cold. This beach is so peaceful that you can do meditation itself here.

Saturdays as well as Sundays are very busy with local people (plus Indians from Chennai or Mumbai) who go to this beach to have a view of the various tourists taking sunbath and then to scream and run into the beach waters. They also visit the beach often to play football or cricket making use of empty bottles as goal posts or wickets. Sometimes exhibitions are conducted in the ground near the beach and there are also cultural programs also held here occasionally.

Tourist Spots Near the Beach

Towards the left of the Ashwem beach is the Morjim beach and towards the right is the Manderim beach. It is just a pleasurable walk in both the ways and only a very few visitors can be seen on both the beaches in March.

Shacks at the Beach

Black Horse Shack

Black Horse shack is one of the famous shacks here chilled by the cool breeze from the beach which is just in front. The food is good and the service is wonderful with few crowds and a very peaceful place far from the noise of the city.

Other famous shacks serving delicious food in Ashwem beach are the Boomerang and Golden Goa shacks. There are many sun shades in these shacks and some of them get blown around or fallen down due to the winds.

Getting Around the Beach

You can drive the whole way from Vagator and get to Ashvem or you can take a ride from the area of Baga by hiring a motorcycle. Travel by motorcycle takes around half an hour both ways including obstacles like mongoose, monkeys, pigs, cattle, speed bumps and falling coconuts. To reach Ashwem beach, it is the best way to hire a motorbike, since most buses from Panjim and Mapusa are irregular.

Nearby Hotels and Places of  Accommodation

Some guest houses, tree houses and basic huts are present in Ashwem beach for accommodation. The accommodation lining the beach area is of the finest quality in the whole of Goa. Every hotel and resort in Ashwem beach is top class and stylish.

Yab Yum Resort

Yab Yum Resort borders this beach directly, hidden in a thriving palm grove of 2 acres, bordered by sand dunes as well as directly facing the Arabian Sea towards the west. In this resort, you can relax in comfort and also watch local fishermen bringing home their catches against a beautiful sunset backdrop.

Other Places to Grab Some Food

There are plenty of places of accommodation on the calm area of the Ashwem beach which is called ‘Palm Grove’. The famous ones among them include Rococco, Babu Huts, Meem's, Yab Yum and Yogagypsys. Rococco is a market place and Meem's is nice with great food, courteous staff and customary bamboo huts. Among these, the highly recommended is definitely Yogagypsys with its houses constructed into rocks, tippees and spacious huts.

Thus, the Ashwem beach is known for its special tranquil beauty and appeal, along with being very neat and quiet. The waters of the beach are very secure for swimming and the sight of the shoreline full of palms and the lovely silver sands is truly amazing!
