Arossim Beach in Goa

This quiet and beautiful beach is a must visit in Goa and it is also among the peaceful beaches in India. You have to try the prawns and fish in the restaurants near this beach, which are extremely good. This beach with its wide stretch of sun-bleached soft sands provides with enchanting little sounds of nature through the warm breeze from the coconut trees. These trees serve as shady places for those who come for picnics and there are also some shacks here offering delicious snacks and drinks. This beach is among the very few non-spoilt beaches and you can move around using the various motor rickshaws which run alongside the coast.

Highlights of the Beach

Even though there are no water sport activities here, you can have an enjoyable time just by strolling along the beach as well as playing in the waves. There are plenty of shacks providing good food and beverages which cost you some money but the sun loungers or beds are free for you to use. The great part is you can relax at this beach for hours together and also enjoy the sunset and sea breeze.

The sea is jerky and it is not calm enough for snorkeling, yet it is amazing for getting yourself cool and for splashing around. A good thing is that you can spend quality time here and also avoid the large crowd because of the vastness of the beach! During Christmas and New Year seasons, this beach is very busy and crowded with different nationalities of tourists in massive numbers.

Like all other beaches on the beautiful, marvelous and endless Indian Ocean coastline in South Goa, this beach also contains glittery white sand, dense green palm trees as well as multicolored fishing boats that look like they are dancing in the waves of the ocean slowly. The landscape looks lonely and hidden in the silhouette of the mighty trees and has only a few shops and houses. This beach is opened daily and it is safe for you to swim here only during the non-monsoon months and that too only from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

This beach is situated between Utorda Beach and Bogmalo Beach and it is a lengthy continuous stretch f water ending 25km from the Sal River. This beach is among the most scenic and picturesque spots with its spotless blue water, golden sand, palm trees, and the various wooden boats dispersed all over the shore. Though there are not much water sports here, some activities like jet skiing and parasailing exist from mid-October to mid-April.

Location and Distance

It is very difficult to differentiate between Arossim Beach and the neighboring Cansaulim and Cuelim beach resorts that are actually a natural extension of the Arossim beach to the north. All the three beaches are a part of the Cansaulim Village territory situated in the Salcette Taluk of the Salcette region within South Goa.

Towards the south of the Arossim beach, you can see two worldwide renowned beaches, Majorda and Utorda, which stretch along the coastline of the sea. Arossim Beach is located at a distance of about 12km from the major city of this region, Margao, and at a distance of about 16 km to Dabolim International Airport.

Star Fish Shack

Star Fish Shack is a restaurant situated at the exact center of the Arossim beach providing good food.  This shack has friendly staff and the food here is well worth the prices. You must try the crab, red snapper - grilled with curry and the Great Banyan white wine, which are great. There are excellent fresh salads available here with light garnishing.

Aaron's Shack

This shack is good and similar to the other shacks and the food here is wonderful and freshly made and reasonably priced. The specialties are mushrooms, prawns, cauliflower, spicy grilled potatoes and a Vegetarian grilled platter which are really wonderful. The best thing about the shack is it becomes delightful during the night and the chairs are placed outside, just close to the dancing waves.
